Long term injury is possibly the hardest thing a professional footballer can go through, but some players have gone through a lot more than others. With high expectations at a younger age and impressive early displays in their career, this Premier League XI is dedicated to the players that should have been great but never were, due to long term injury.

Some of the most promising young talents in the English game have had their careers ruined by injury and some just can’t recover from any sort of problem. Are there any that you think we have missed?
