Frank Lampard v Lucas – will Frank be unstoppable?

One of Liverpool’s most improved players this season has been Lucas Leiva. The defensive midfielder has been the focus of much of the Liverpool fans’ frustration in recent seasons, but his revival under Kenny Dalglish has been impressive. When the Premier League returns from the international break, Lucas will once again take up his position in front of the Liverpool back-four to fend off the advances of Frank Lampard.

Lampard so far this season has continued to prove why he is one of England’s elite players. Scoring six goals so far this season and starting every game, he has been impressive in his inclusion as one of the bright spots in Andre Villas-Boas’ Chelsea side. A player certainly in the twilight of his career has helped his side sustain a decent challenge on the Premier League title behind Manchester City and Manchester United.

Going into this important tie against rivals Liverpool, Lampard will certainly be one of the focal points of Chelsea’s attack and hopes of earning all 3pts.

Can Lucas continue his impressive form and stop one of the Premier League’s in-form players, or will Chelsea continue their resurgence following the disappointing defeat to London-rivals Arsenal a few weeks ago?

Lucas? Simply not good enough. Fans are so used to have Lucas around, no wonder Liverpool are a mediocre team. We need an outstanding playmaker this January transfer to partner Adam for top 4 places

Do be serious.Lucas is the best DM in the premier league, the problems in Liverpools’ midfield are Adam, Downing & Henderson.

We need to replace Lucas with Javi Martinez who is brilliant sitting in front of defence and starting the play. Does not give the ball away and big physical presence. Lucas is too slight and can go missing

This so called story is just that, a story. If the writer had kept up with the news he would know that Kenny Dalglish has said he will be playing our youngsters in this tie and has told the supporters to save their money and not travel to the game. He is taking a stance against the idiots who run (some would say ruin) our game by letting Sky and other TV companies do what they want, when they want.

This writer knows nothing of the Premier League. First of all, Frank Lampard hasn’t started every game this season. He was left on the bench for the home game against Swansea. Second of all, Lucas has NOT been Liverpool’s biggest improvement. The Midfield has been taken up by Charlie Adam, Stew Downing, and Dirk Kuyt mostly. He’s been here and there but he’s also been very disappointing. I don’t see how one can say “Lucas is a big improvement.” Last but not least, Frank’s definitely going to Dominate him. Far too much Calibre. Experience. And all around game play. Lucas has many years to mature into a professional that Lampard has become. Final Score: CHELSEA FC 2-0 LIVERPOOL FC.
