Time to give credit where it is due at Tottenham?
Younes Kaboul has come a long way during his second stint at White Hart Lane. There will come a day when Ledley King calls it quits and somebody will have to step up and take the reins of Tottenham ’s defence. As it is, it seems that Younes will be the man who is capable of doing this. Should he continue to improve at the rate that he has done over the last couple of seasons, he’ll surely be a fixture in Tottenham ’s defence for years to come.
This season has certainly been his best season yet, both in terms of form and appearances (he has played every minute of Spurs’ Premier League campaign thus far). This rise to prowess hasn’t gone unnoticed – Serie A leaders Juventus are said to be keeping tabs on the 25-year-old defender with a view to a move for his signature in January.
There will be lots of talk as usual, about Tottenham losing most of their players this January and throughout the Summer. This talk will likely focus on Luka Modric and Gareth Bale, but in my opinion it’s just as important for Spurs to hold onto Kaboul.
Kaboul’s a real force in the air and his tackling and positional sense has improved greatly since he rejoined the club. I’m not claiming that he’s as good a defender as Ledley King, but he has the potential to develop into something special – particularly given the chance to play alongside and learn from King himself.
Whilst I also admire Dawson, it’s slowly becoming clear that Kaboul is the future of the club. Unfortunately timed injuries on Dawson’s behalf have seen Kaboul offered chances to establish himself in the team and he has taken full advantage of the situation.
I still maintain that Ramos shouldn’t have sold him in the first place. The move away from White Hart Lane seemed to destroy his confidence. But Harry Redknapp ’s bringing him back to the club can surely be viewed as something of a vote of confidence and Younes hasn’t looked back since.
Am I alone in my appreciation of Kaboul? Is he one of the leading-lights when it comes to Tottenham’s future? Whatever the case, surely it’s time that Tottenham fans gave him a decent song?

It should be clear to everyone how much he has imoproved, and you would have to be blind not to notice it. He has headed more clearances than anyone else in the Premier League, his pace is incredible, he is strong and now is positioning is very good. With continued improvement he will be a World Class Defender. Whether he will stay at Tottenham for years to come is another question, but he should be given a starting place in the team regardsless of the fitness of other defenders.

I like Kaboul but he does sometimes relies on King to mark runners at set pieces balls when he should start to lead the line himself. Ledley is a great player but he is also a player handicapped with a bed knee and we don’t no when its hurting him or hampering him.We are conceding goals from headers and this is a weakness team are exposing and this is where Kaboul should take the lead and track the attack the ball when it arrives in the box. He ill then move out of Kings shadow and become a Spurs great.

I rate Younes highly he has strength speed, aerial ability and he can play, his positioning is coming on massively under Ledley Kings tuition.
The only thing I will say is anyone who plays alongside Ledley King plays terrific due to his organisational skills, Bassong, Woodgate, Kaboul, Dawson and even Tony Gradner got an England call up playing alongside the King.
What is interesting is a combo of Gallas and King that could be destructive as both are amazing organisers…..opposing teams wont get beyond the half way line lol

Sorry, guys, but for me this man is still Kabull-in-a-china shop. I think the look on Ledley’s face said it all on Saturday’s conceded goal. All too often Younes is a bystander -a close bystander, perhaps, -but just close enough to the leaping attacker to get a good view as the ball goes in the net.
If he has a future at Spurs, it will be as a full back who can play centreback in an emergency.
If Juventus really want him, good luck to them.
Also agree that although Michael Dawson is an awesome header of the ball, he does not quite have the class to fill Ledley’s shoes. We need to move again for Cahill or someone stronger.

I think Kaboul has potential and should stay around Ledley as should Dawson. These players may develop into special defenders but who knows. I think the defender we must keep at all costs is Assou Ekotto my spurs player of the year

If your ambition runs only as high as top 7 then Kaboul if fine, so is Dawson. But to seriously stake a permanent claim to champions league football there is a good argument that the entire back line can be upgraded. BAE is erratic, Kaboul doesnt see the game well enough, King is physically unpredictable and Walker is a work in progress.
