Newcastle striker Demba Ba has stated that his side will bounce back from their defeat against Manchester City on Saturday, and will go into their game against Manchester United at Old Trafford full of confidence.

Alan Pardew’s men lost their unbeaten Premier League record by losing 3-1 to the current league leaders, but still sit in third place in the standings.

Despite the loss Ba feels that the Tyneside club can get a result against Sir Alex Ferguson’s men and is hoping for a reaction from his team.

“It’s a disappointing result but there are positives,” he told Mirror Football.

“We have some very strong characters and I am sure this result will not affect us. We’re not going to struggle mentally because of one defeat. I definitely think we can get something at United,” he stated.

Newcastle had chances to score in the first half against City but spurned them, and Ba feels that his side showed promising signs in attack.

“We played well and still have plenty of confidence after this,” he concluded.

Ba is becoming an increasingly important player at Newcastle, but Alan Pardew will have to prepare to be without the Senegal international in the new year due to the African Cup of Nations.
