Blackburn owners The Venky Group have confirmed that despite increased rumours of late, the club is not for sale.

The Indian based organisation have had an ill-fated period in control of the Lancashire club, with poor results this season seeing the side languish in the lower echelons of the Premier League table and a group of disgruntled fans calling for the manager’s head.

Speculation has been rife that the Asian group were ready to sell up, but this is not the case.

“We have no interest in selling Blackburn Rovers whatsoever,” co-owner Venkatesh Rao told the Lancashire Telegraph.

Middle East oil giant Qatar Petroleum were the intended buyer according to the British press, but any takeover bid seems to have been blocked.

The Ewood Park outfit sit in 19th place in the Premier League standings after eleven games, and have only recorded one victory to date this season.

Steve Kean’s men face an early season six-pointer on Saturday however, as they travel to take on bottom club Wigan at the DW Stadium.
