Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish tried to remain upbeat after his side drew 0-0 with Wigan on Wednesday night, as The Reds missed a penalty in the stalemate.
Charlie Adam saw his 51st minute effort saved, making it four penalty misses out of five attempts this season for the Anfield outfit.
Despite this the Scottish coach joked about his team’s lack of accuracy from 12 yards, but knows that the failure to score changed the game.
“I suppose the goalkeepers are helpful, aren’t they? If they don’t put a goalkeeper in, then we have got a chance,” he told Sky Sports.
“We are not out there to miss penalty kicks, but at least we are getting them. Obviously we would much rather we put them away
“It is the difference between maybe one and three points,” he stated.
Luis Suarez played his first game since news of the FA’s eight-match suspension ruling against him for racist comments to Patrice Evra, and Dalglish admitted that he has never had a problem with the Uruguay international.
“It is all very well and good telling players to control themselves. I think the FA better start controlling crowds.
“But Luis Suarez is somebody that has never disappointed us since the day he came in the door and he won’t ever do that,” he concluded.
