Stoke manager Tony Pulis has spoken of the great week that his side have had, culminating with The Potters beating Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park on Sunday.

The Britannia Stadium outfit recorded a win over Blackburn last weekend, before drawing with Dinamo Kiev in midweek to ensure qualification to the Europa League knockout stages; it was been a positive seven days for the Welsh coach.

“The two Premier League wins were important,” he told Sky Sports after the win.

“To get qualified for Europe is fantastic – a great achievement by the players. It’s remarkable – we’ve done it with one game to go. We’re very pleased as a football club.

“Coming to Goodison and winning has just been the icing on the cake,” he admitted.

Robert Huth scored the only goal of the game early in the encounter, and the visitors had to endure long periods without the ball as Everton looked for an equaliser; Pulis was happy with his team’s collective performance.

“To get a result here is always very difficult. They’ve got some top, top players and David is a top manager. So to get a result here today is a great achievement.

“I thought everybody, the front players right through to the back players, was very compact and tight together.

“If someone made a mistake they was someone there to cover for him. And we looked dangerous on the break.

“We played some good football and little bits and pieces broke down where if we had been a little bit more calmer and clinical we might have caused them more problems,” he concluded.

The three points sees Stoke leapfrog Everton into eighth place, and the Midlands outfit now host Tottenham next Sunday.
