Manchester City manager Roberto ManciniManchester City manager Roberto Mancini has stated that his side need 90 points to win the Premier League title, as they look to beat cross-town rivals United to top spot.

The Etihad Stadium outfit are two points clear of Sir Alex Ferguson’s men going into Christmas, and the Italian coach knows that the race for the title will go right down to the wire.

“If we want to win the championship we should get 90 points because Manchester United keep winning,” Mancini told Mirror Football.

“We’re happy to be top at Christmas but, as I keep saying, it’s important to stay top at the end of the season.

“We have dominated the championship up to this moment and we’re playing well, but we should continue this way.

“Sometimes it isn’t enough, because we played well at Chelsea and deserved to win the game, but still lost.

“But my feeling is good after two years here. We’re working well and we’ve come a long way. We’re top and playing really well,” he stated.

With important home games against United, Tottenham and Chelsea to come before the end of the season, Mancini hopes that the Etihad Stadium becomes a fortress for the big-spending side.

“I hope teams come here in future with fear, because that helps us.

“For a long time teams have gone to Old Trafford with that kind of fear. Now teams play differently against us, too, which is a good sign,” he concluded.
