Shearer in line for Blackburn job

Alan Shearer is reportedly ready to take over at Blackburn, with Steve Kean on his last legs at the Lancashire club.

A 2-1 home defeat to West Brom at the weekend caused anger amongst Rovers supporters, and sees the Ewood Park team in 19th place with only 10 points from 16 games.

The Daily Mail stipulate that former Blackburn striker Shearer is The Venky Group’s preferred replacement, with Kean expected to be shown the door this week.

Despite the continued rumours surrounding the Scottish coach’s future however, Kean is remaining defiant and will not quit.

“I don’t need to switch off and I don’t feel the need to run away from anything,” Kean stated.

“I have had massive support from a lot of people because they know what a young side we are. It’s different if you have a very experienced team in a situation we are in, but we have eight or nine players under 23.

“I need to get points, though, and I’m under no illusion my job is based on being in a much better position than we are now.

“I’ll make sure I prepare the team right for Bolton on Tuesday because, if it wasn’t a big match before, it’s massive now.

“I’ve never felt I can’t win the fans round. I always feel we are about to go on an unbeaten run,” he concluded.

Blackburn take on Bolton in a relegation six-pointer on Tuesday, and failure to win would surely end Kean’s time at the club.

Shearer is not the answer, I love shearer to bits and will never forget what a true legend he was for us but he couldn’t save Newcastle in a very similar position and I think his lack of experience cost them and will cost us, on the other hand I honestly don’t think anyone can save us from the mess agent keen has done and with Liverpool n man u away comin up I feel we are already doomed so if they are going to give shearer a 2/3 year contract n say we’ll support you even when/if we are relegated I suppose having a club legend like shearer would be good and ya never know with the fans 100% behind a man like shearer we may just pull off a miracle,
