Former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has stated that if the Stamford Bridge club really want to support struggling striker Fernando Torres they should sell Didier Drogba.

The Spain international has found goals hard to come by since moving to London in January 2011, and has been used as a sub recently when the Ivory Coast international is available.

With Drogba away on African Cup of Nations duty more pressure has been mounted on Torres to perform, but Ancelotti feels that Torres needs to be number one at all times.

“Coaching Chelsea in the midst of a major generational change is complicated,” the Paris Saint-Germain boss told The Daily Mail.

“Look at Torres and his crisis. If you decide you are going to invest in him, you have to sell Drogba.

“Didier is like Pippo Inzaghi at Milan. He tends to swallow up all his competitors. It is not because they are evil, they are just like that,” he concluded.
