Inter have confirmed that they have made a €25 million (£21m) offer for Carlos Tevez, but reports in the British press indicate that Manchester City have rejected this approach.

Claudio Ranieri’s men look like the front-runners in the bid to capture the Argentina international’s signature, as AC Milan have opted to halt negotiations over the attacker.

Inter president Massimo Moratti has confirmed the Serie A giants’ offer for Tevez, but feels that he may well have competition for the South American.

“In football there are no secrets: the offer is €25m, now it’s up to them whether they accept it or not,” the Italian executive stated to reporters.

“I believe that there are still other teams involved. There are still the English and PSG.

“Do we need reinforcements? Apparently not, in principle … but football doesn’t respond to these rules,” he commented.

However, Sky Sports have reported that the bid has been rejected and falls short of the Etihad Stadium outfit’s valuation of the forward.

Moratti has clarified that he has not received a response from the Premier League leaders yet, despite the media stating otherwise.

“I don’t know if City have refused our offer for Tevez,” he told Sky Sport24.
