GK: Richard Wright – The promising young goalkeeper burst onto the scene with Ipswich Town, impressing everyone with his mature displays between the sticks at Portman Road. As David Seaman wasn’t getting any younger, Wenger decided Wright should be his replacement, paying a reported £6 million to bring him to the club. He proved a disaster though, making a few blunders, including punching the ball in his own net against Charlton before Wenger decided enough was enough and disposed of him after just 12 league appearances.
