So, we are dodgy?

Posted by: Scorchio, Fri 11th Jul 2008
Just reading some reaction from Villa and Spurs fans saying that Rafa is tapping up players by making it public knowledge that he's interested in Keane and Barry, does anyone else think these bitter under achievers are just being ridiculous. Redknapp made it public knowledge he wanted Crouch, no one had anything to say about that and didn't Villa make it public knowledge they wanted Sidwell and Bentley. So what Barry wants to play in the Champions league before he misses his chance, he will be doing that this season when he signs, Robbie Keane is one of the most consistant players in the league ever, a big club was always going to come knocking they should be flattered that they have players who other teams want to pay big money for. Rafa just let Crouch go to Pompy who are closer in the league than Spurs, some clubs wouldn't have done that, but we did because we are thinking about the player.  I tell you peeps these clowns who are p***ed off about losing players need realize if you have good players and you aren't competeing they will want to move on, I believe it's called career progression.

So, why will you not let
So, why will you not let Fernando Torres 'progress' his career by selling him to Chelsea? He should be allowed a chance to win the Premiership. As you say, you should be flattered that Liverpool have players that other teams want to pay big money for...

...because, how do I put
...because, how do I put this delicately Torres going to Chelsea WOULDN'T BE SEEN AS PROGRESS WOULD IT NOW! As for the other reasons, don't get me started... In response to Scorchio's original comment, I believe that unfortunately for Liverpool Football Club, we seem to ALWAYS get the short end of the stick! There is a never ending stream of people out there just waiting to stick one in where the club is concerned. Simply put, its one rule for us, and another set for the others. Don't know about you, but for me it just makes my dedication and love for the club that bit stronger, and will no doubt make no.19 that bit sweeter with the added advantage of knowing that we did it, to paraphrase a certain Mr. Sinatra 'The Hard Way'.

1: Torres doesn't want to
1: Torres doesn't want to play for Chelski because he is Loyal to Liverpool. 2: What makes you think Chelski will win it again?

Well Sidyid, Mr Torres
Well Sidyid, Mr Torres didn't want to leave Anfield that's why he wasn't sold to Chelsea, and Barry wants to come and Keane seems up for the move plus why would Torres want to go to a club where half of the players want to leave. It's also good when a foreign player shows some passion for his club, in this age when so many players are turning their back on football clubs that have stood by them for the sake of money, and yes I am flattered that Money bags Chelsea are once again showing interest in our players it shows we have something they want, but something they can't buy is the passion that keeps our top players at Liverpool.

Well Scorchio, i take it you
Well Scorchio, i take it you must know Robbie Keane, did he tell you personally that he wanted the move to your club, unlike Barry, Keane has kept very quiet over the whole affair, he is in Spain with the rest of team, he is also a very loyal player. Tell me when all the [*@!$] was going on with Gerald and Chelsea were you not a little pissed off, do you not wish to grant us the same right to feel aggrieved, i have always liked Liverpool for the style of football you play but how ever you dress it up, Rafa is being a knob because he does not have the money to purchase the players he wants, look at what he's done to Barry because he refuses to pay what villa want, if he had kept it between player and club and not played it out in the media a player you want would not have to go grovelling back to his current team mates, fans and manager.

1. Keane has reportedly (as
1. Keane has reportedly (as of Tuesday last) handed in a transfer request. But, as with Villa and Silva and literally dozens of other players that Rafa has been following, if the price is too high, well, then there isn't a deal, right? Just like the women you meet in a bar. If there is no agreement, there's no agreement. End of story. 2. Wasn't p'd off or aggrieved over Gerrard and Chelsea. 3. My understanding re Barry was that it wasn't Rafa who went to war in the media to get the player - or even publicized it. MON decided to conduct a scorched earth defense. And raised his price after Liverpool agreed to 15 million. Shades of ManU and the Heinze affair: "We don't want to sell to you". So the media does what they do to sell papers and buy eyeballs. 4. Was it o.k. what Tottenham did over Ramos and Jol? What about John Bostock from Crystal Palace? And of course, MON has Never, Ever, bid on a player who figured in the plans of another club.

Timi......not seen as
Timi......not seen as progress?! You mention about there being one rule for some and a different one for others, I think you are using the same skewed logic here. Barry going from Villa to Liverpool is no different to Torres going to Chelsea. The gap between Villa and Pool on the final day of last season is similar to that of the gap between you and Chelsea. Get used to the fact that you are not challenging for the Premiership title at the moment. How you can possibly feel everyone is against you is beyond me, nothing has happened to your club that isn't of your own making.

4/ Bostock - yawn, out of
4/ Bostock - yawn, out of contract, spurs did nothing wrong yaddayadda etc. The tribunal decided the price not Spurs and that price will end up being £5million if he develops into the player everyone expects. Yes the Ramos/Jol affair was unseemly, but it didn't actually break any rules did it so whatcha gonna do? Ultimately, we need to face that contracts mean nothing, money is all that matters. You either have enough of it to pay the stupid prices for players clubs don't want to sell or you don't and you either have the funds not to sell your player and pay him a fortune to play in the reserves sulking or you don't. Simple as, therefore the clubs with the money will always let the smaller clubs take the gamble with "cheaper" unproven players and then as soon as they are a success, wheel out the chequebook and buy up a player with 0 risk.
