Why not Barry

This might sound a stupid question and one that most fans have asked themselves, but why haven't Spurs gone after Gareth Barry?
It has been clear since Carrick's transfer to United that Spurs have needed a player in that role. Yet each transfer window we don't seem to be able to bring one in, Im sorry but Zork isn't good enough and Huddlestone doesnt have the legs to cover enough ground. The only other player is O'Hara but Ramos wants to take his time with him, which is understandable.
This leads me to the one man that would cost 18milllion but would be worth the money as he knows the league and is reaching the peak of his carear. Oh and did I mention that the guy is a huge Spurs fan.... yep Barry is a Spurs fan.
Looking at the squad we a a CB light with King not being able to play every match, so that need to be sorted and with Berba going we need to strenghen up front, but Barry would be money very well spent. He would give Modric room to play and would allow us to play the attcking footaball that Ramos clearly wants to play.
Would he come to us? Yes, the guy was heart broken that he wasnt allowed to move to Spurs a few years back when Jol was in charge. I got that from his brother, who lives very close to me. If Liverpool thought he was good enough and so does England, Im sorry Levy should snap him up while he still can. I guy would fill a much needed gap in our team and would bring bite to our midfield and heart, which is something we need.
