FanCast columnist Jim Sessions wonders if Emmanuel Adebayor is set to
return to Arsenal with his tail very much between his legs.
I'm sure that I am not the only Arsenal
supporter that has been bemused by the carry ons at N5 this summer. It is has
been one thing after another, a total circus at times and to be honest I have
reached a point where I couldn't care less.
What Arsene Wenger has done to deserve such
crassness and disrespect from players he has nurtured is anybody's guess. It
has damaged us greatly, jeopardised next season's title push and the Frenchman
is left with not only having to improve the squad, but having to replace key
players from within it.
I know there is a huge lobby of Arsenal fans who feel the club have brought it all on themselves and have been made to pay for a lack of ambition, but I don't buy into that. The day you start bowing down to a players demands is the time your football club goes down the road of no return, so I applaud Hill-Wood and co for making a stand.
One player who has irritated me greatly is Emmanuel Adebayor. A series of contradicting statements from player and his agent have left a huge amount of uncertainty and subsequent left a great deal of resentment from Arsenal fans towards the player. With Ronaldinho joining Milan and Barcelona seemingly turned their attentions to Dimitar Berbatov, the Togolese striker has certainly found himself between a rock and a hard place and could well be forced to return to the club with very much his tail between his legs.
So how do Arsenal fans feel about Adebayor and will he be welcome back with open arms? There is no question that we need his qualities and with time running out you do feel that the clubs need is greater than any dispute we may have about the players loyalty.
