Football FanCast columnist Rob Facey reacts to Theo Walcott's scintillating cameo on Tuesday night, and ponders the Arsenal player's future domestically, and internationally.

Fabio Capello was full of admiration for the strength of English football after seeing three Premier League teams reach the semi finals, although special praise was reserved for Arsenal's Theo Walcott and his role in Arsenal's valiant defeat on Tuesday night.

"I was delighted," the Italian told The Guardian. "The run was incredible. To go past so many players with such speed and balance is one thing but to have the composure and awareness to pick a pass at the crucial moment showed great skill and maturity."

Walcott was controversially included in the World Cup squad in 2006, although he was unused despite England being short of attacking options with injuries to Rooney and Owen.

After a slow start to this season, Walcott has become increasingly more involved at the Emirates. His increasing impact and involvement at games produces a buzz around the Emirates not witnessed since Dennis Bergkamp or, more recently, Thierry Henry. Capello's endorsement must mean that the former Southampton striker will become an integral part of the England set up for the next decade.

However, teams have begun to acknowledge Walcott's electric pace and the 19 year old is often double marked and his threat nullified. However, at Anfield on Tuesday he showed the reason why Wenger was willing to break with his usually reserved transfer spending policy and take a gamble on a relative unknown.

Capello, sensing Walcott's ability to bring something new to the international arena, is keen for more English players to influence and dictate games.

"It is positive that English players are proving their flexibility and tactical awareness. Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United each play with unique style and it is promising to see English players flourishing in different roles and situations. An all-English final would be fantastic for the England players involved."

Is Walcott the man to bring success to England? What is the youngster's best position? Would he be in your England team at the moment, and if so, would he replace Rooney, Owen or Crouch?

How involved do you see him becoming at Arsenal next season? Or, as is often the case with English stars, are we in danger or expecting too much from someone so young?

I am not English, but i have to say that i disagree with tommo. He HAS been consistent with the under 21 (a side above his age bracket). It is true that he has been used sparinly by AW,that is because he (wenger) knows he has more to give and more to learn.Wenger simply dosent want him to become a termed a superstar until his education is complete.Bently, for example, has more to give but it seems as if though he is more intrested in what others have to offer him than what more he can offer.
