Football FanCast columnist Davis Lowe looks at the striking dilemma that faces Fabio Capello and wonders who he should choose to spearhead England's attack.

If you look back over the last 20yrs of English football, the national side has been blessed with some of the finest strike talent you are likely to see. Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, and Robbie Fowler, to name a few and it really was an embarrassment of riches for those respective England bosses and the type of headache all managers would like to have. It is however an area that has dried up quite considerably in recent years as clubs choose to bring in foreign strikers at expense of home grown talent and really you could forgive Fabio Capello for feeling let down with the lack of striking talent at his disposal.

Sven Goran Eriksson was roundly criticised with his 2006 World Cup squad with his choice of striking personnel. The injured duo of Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen were joined by Peter Crouch and the untried Theo Walcott in that particular squad - crazy it may have seen at the time but on fairer reflection, what was actually available at the time?

It really is a worrying situation and one look down the Premier League shows we as a nation are going through a severe barren spell upfront. Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen are obvious exceptions but look at the next rung and you have an array of players like Crouch, Bent, Walcott, Heskey and Ashton who have spent more time on the bench than the actual field of play. It is fair to say that Jermain Defoe is finally getting a run of games but is he really international class?

So what does Fabio Capello do? Does he flood the midfield and play one up to compensate for the lack of forwards? Should he play Peter Crouch alongside a Rooney or Owen? Would Capello be right to persevere with Gerrard in a withdrawn role behind a front man? It really is a tough decision for the Italian that is without question but which players do you feel should spearhead England's attack ahead of the World Cup qualifiers?

It is the debate "Who should spearhead England's attack" that will be discussed on the WKD Sports Shed show on Nuts TV, so submit your vote and comment and get your opinion seen by many.
