Everton unveil their
third summer signing of the transfer window.
Everton have agreed a deal with Manchester United to sign
Louis Saha for an undisclosed fee. The France striker will sign a two-year
contract with the option for a third with the Toffees subject to passing a
medical on Merseyside.
Saha joined the Red Devils from Fulham for £12.8million in
2004 but his time at Old Trafford was blighted by a succession of injuries. He
made 124 appearances for United in all competitions and scored 42 goals, but
featured in just 17 Premier League games last season following a recurrence of
a knee injury towards the end of the campaign.
Saha's international career has been similarly blighted and the former Metz striker has won just 18 caps for France. The 30-year-old will become the third player signed by Toffees boss David Moyes this week.
Danish defender Lars Jacobsen and Ecuador midfielder Segundo Castillo have both signed in recent days following a frustrating summer where Moyes failed to add a single player to his squad.
So are Everton fans
happy with the arrival of Luis Saha or does he represent something of a
calculated risk, given his appalling injury record?
