Football FanCast columnist Joe Blackmore reflects on the dose of déjà vu served up at Anfield this afternoon and wonders if it is time that Robbie Keane was dropped.

If there is one thing that was to be so apparent in the phone-ins and forums after this debacle at Anfield, then it will be the cry of here we go again and seen it all before.

They say hindsight is a wonderful thing, but in all honestly this was always going to happen. The failure to bring in any natural width in the summer was always going to hamper us, especially against resolute defences like Stoke put out today.

It was a joke quite honestly and I'm sure I wasn't the only Kopite who could see the writing on the wall at half time. We saw it on several occasions last seasons and dropped so many points as a result. There use to be a time when Anfield was a fortress and Liverpool would have to be seriously off their game to drop points. The problem is that we, are playing these teams off the park but just can't unlock these teams in the final third. Albert Riera and especially Robbie Keane were the men to provide the solution; they are failing terribly, especially the latter, who is becoming decidedly painful to watch with every given week.

The simple solution for me is to go back to what was working last season and restore Gerrard behind Torres, in order to get our talisman back scoring. Torres and Keane don't look good together and the Spaniard is constantly getting frustrated. You can see it in his body language and it is not good. I know Rafa wants to persevere with it and hopes it comes good, but how long do you wait? Keane should be moved to the bench; period, and personally I would rather have Babel on the left than Riera. The Spaniard has great skill, but from what I have seen in the last few games, he clearly can't cross a ball.

So what do Liverpool fans really feel about today and do you share my reservations about Keane? Should Rafa change back to a 4-4-1-1 going forward?

Keane and Riera being substituted today sums up what everyone is feeling about them. If Rafa honestly thought they could unlock these tight defences then he would have kept them on.

Good call about Torres and his body language, he does seem somewhat deflated and he certainly doesnt look as sharp as the player we know and love, agree that Stevie G should be bought in behind him.

Must agree with you that Kean hasn't delivered yet, but Liverpool did score a totaly legal goal, yet to be disallowed, as on so many other occasion. For how long will the referees decide who are the Champions of the Premier League. Would they have given it if it was at Old Trafford? No Doubt

Keane should not have been

Keane should not have been bought. We needed Quaresma to replace Kuyt on the right wing, not Keane behind Torres when we had Gerrard there. Rafa made a fck up in buying Keane - and subbing him every game proves it. Rafa needs to drop Kuyt. He is fine in big games where we need energy and tackles but teams like Stoke have plenty of players to match Kuyt's effort and besides that he has little to offer. We need better quality from the right wing against teams that come to defend. Babel must be tried there or give Pennant some games.

I am not one for getting on

I am not one for getting on the back of our players, but i have to agree with you. Robbie has already cost us 4 points - he was through one on one against Villa, and missed a sitter from 6 yards today - NOT GOOD ENOUGH for a £20 million pound striker. That money could have been spent on a world class right sided winger, which is all we needed to add to last seasons squad. we have changed a system that was dynamite to accomodate him - and its not working. As for Dirk - Bloody awful player. Im sick of hearing how hard he works for the team beacuse Rafa could have signed me or any one of us, for nothing, and we would all run our socks off all day and all night, but with more quality. Bottom line is HE IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH, especially on the right side of midfield. And he is useless as a stiker, missing sitter after sitter. 3 prem goals last season, and 1 shinner this season in what was his worst ever performance in a liverpool shirt. Its a load of [*@!$] We should have sold him when we had the chance becuase his value will nose-dive when everybody else realises just how bad he actully is. I take no pleasure in slagging of Liverpool players - and as much as I love Rafa - I really dont understand what he sees in the Dirkster? I feel you are being harsh on Riera - He was impressive against Utd, and altough average today I feel its far too early to write him off yet.

i have to agree with your comments about keane but why did you criticize riera when you don't really have a case?"The Spaniard has great skill, but from what I have seen in the last few games, he clearly can't cross a ball. "riera has only played two games and made a substitute appearance so far and you talk like he's been playing for half a season.i would say that the judgement should be reserved on him first untl he strings a few games together.

are you kidding me? Riera has played just over 2 games for liverpool and you are already saying he is an awful signing? And i dont understand how people can support kuyt for his work-rate when keane's is double what his is. Difference is that Keane actually has quality too. You fucking fickle fans should be ashamed of yourselves. We are Liverpool Football Club, with the so called "best fans in the world", but at the moment people like yourselves are making us the laughing stock of the league. Keane hasnt scored yet? Oh well! Look at crouchy, he didnt score until december but then the floodgates opened and he scored a bunch. Sad thing with you lot is that the moment Keane scores a goal and goes on a scoring streak you will all be raving about what an amazing signing it was and how clever Rafa was to bring him in. You idiots think that everything clicks over-night dont you? Well have I got fucking news for you, it doesnt. it takes time and you have to be patient. I for one am willing to be patient, however long it takes. However i refuse to resort to being the sort of scum you are, slating your own players and manager, its disgusting. Go and fucking support Chelsea, it seems like the exact club you want. They bench £20mil players, no manager is ever good enough even if they get within an inch of both the premier league and CL, oh and if a player isnt bought for over £15mil he is a worthless and surplus to requirements player. Chelsea seems like the exact club for you lot. Over here at Liverpool we make do with what we have, but one thing we do is support our manager and players through thick and thin, however that concept seems to have been thrown out the window with you lot.

Have to agree with you all,another point is when will refs get really punished,ie lose their jobs for ridiculous decisions,the same year in year out bad diecisions costing us valuable points we should have won the game and not just by the one goal that was disallowed but teams like Stoke can hold us we have to give up any hopes of winning the league, Why change the anthem time as well Rafa,dont you tinker wuith the side enough you trying with everything else.
