Norwich City PodJockey Dave Freezer reacts to the Canaries comprehensive win at Carrow Rd that secured their Championship status.

I was incredibly nervous ahead of Saturday's match against QPR at Carrow Road, as I'm sure many other Canaries fan were, but finally when it came to the crunch a Norwich City side stood up to be counted!

Our Championship status is finally secured thanks to Glenn Roeder riding to our rescue in October and sorting out the carnage that Peter Grant had created.

Although Grant may have been a disaster as Norwich City manager let's not forget that two of the crucial goals scored against QPR were scored by players signed by Grant, Mark Fotheringham and Darrell Russell.

Roeder sorted the wheat from the chaff and although we have teetered precariously over the relegation ledge far too late in the season, Glenn and his managerial team deserve a lot of praise for the job they've done.

Remember the last time the full time whistle was blown after Norwich had played QPR?

We were five points adrift at the bottom of the Championship, our manager resigned and things were looking about as bleak as possible for Norwich fans.

Thankfully the future under Glenn's stewardship is now looking a lot, lot brighter.

Haunting memories from that soul destroying 6-0 defeat at Craven Cottage on the last day of our Premiership campaign and the play-off penalty shoot-out defeat at Cardiff were both terrible reminders of how cruel football can be in the build up to the QPR game.

Was it the class of 2007/08's turn to stall on the starting grid as the going got tough?

Fortunately for Norwich fans it wasn't and now we can all look ahead to building a squad capable of pushing for promotion back to the excitement and riches of the Premier League.

We can go to Hillsborough next Sunday with our party hats on and hopefully relegate our second Yorkshire club of this decade, after we relegated Barnsley to Division Two on our way to the play-offs in 2002.

If we can replicate the outstanding atmosphere from Fortress Carrow Road against QPR in Sheffield next Sunday then we can give Dion, possibly Huckerby and loan-stars such as Ched Evans and Ryan Bertrand a fantastic send off.

We can raise a glass to Glenn, his staff and players this evening on a job well done, eventually, but we must also raise an eyebrow in the direction of Delia, Michael and the Turner's and ask which end of the Championship table do they want to be in a year's time?

Glenn has proved he can work his magic but unless he is given 100% backing by the Norwich City board this summer then we are just going to end up back in this position again and I don't know about you but I think Norwich City is a club that deserves to be dining at the top table of English football.

Trust in Glenn, onwards and upwards and all together now, KICK IT OFF........
