Norwich City PodJockey Dave Freezer talks to Canaries legend Iwan Roberts.

Canaries' legend Iwan Roberts has told the Norwich City Football FanCast that he thinks Darren Huckerby "should be allowed to say his goodbyes and let the crowd show him one final farewell."

The big Welshman scored 96 goals for Norwich between 1997 and 2004 to sit third in the club's all time top goal scorers list and became good friends with Hucks during the 2003/04 Division One championship winning campaign.

Iwan continued, "Yeah, bless him, he rang me on Tuesday to tell me the news. I'm so disappointed for him, he told me he thought there might be a chance that the club were going to offer him something and he is disappointed.

"After all the thanks I got, I got two chances to say goodbye to the fans. The last home game, the Crewe away game and the Civic Reception and he's not been given that. I do feel for him for that because if it wasn't for him we wouldn't have got promoted that year."

The City favourite is now working in the media for BBC Wales and will be working at Wembley on Saturday as Welsh side Cardiff take on Premier League Portsmouth in the FA Cup Final.

He let a cat out of the bag to our presenter Dave though by revealing that SPL club Celtic, managed by Hucks' former manager at Coventry Gordon Strachan, have long been admirers of the exciting winger.

"He could of moved on at any stage, there were some big clubs interested in Darren, I know Celtic were very, very keen to get him up there but he was very loyal to the club."

With Hucks mentioning the possibility of a long commute when he spoke to the media last week, perhaps Iwan has stumbled upon a strong possible destination for Hucks.

Not only did the big man back a tribute match for Huckerby but he also said he would be up for pulling on the yellow and green shirt one last time if the match were to happen, saying "I think that would be a good shout.

"If there was a game for Hucks to take his final chance, I'd definitely put my name forward for it. If they could find me a pair of shorts big enough that is!"
