Football FanCast columnist Jerome Johnstone is on the search to find the most intimidating football ground in Britain.
They say that there are certain football grounds in the country where you never get a decision. Ref's go with the crowd, linesmen follow suit and people wonder why there are inconsistencies within football. Who can ever forget the Andy D'Urso decision to award Middlesbrough a penalty at Old Trafford. How very dare he...you can't do that at the theatre of dreams. I'm using United here as an example and in truth there are many clubs who are just as guilty. St James Park, Anfield, Goodison Park, Celtic Park, Ibrox can get raucous at times. What chance have officials got in keeping 40,000+ restless natives happy?
It is certainly not just the Premier League and SPL that it is rife. Ninian Park, Elland Road, New Den, Molineux and even the old Vetch in Swansea could all get their way and for me it's the make-up of football and as well as intimidating the refs it does just as much for the fans.
How many times do you follow your team, bold and brash all coloured up until you reach within a ¼ of a mile from the ground and the old zipper goes up on the coat? You walk into a pub and suddenly your accent mysteriously changes? You come out of the ground, even though you have won with your head down bemoaning your luck?
We at Football FanCast are trying to find out what you consider to be the most intimidating ground in Britain, either from a fans or teams perspective. Which grounds do you get perennial injustices? What matches do the club colours stay at home? Does it pay to have a hostile atmosphere? Let us know your views as this debate will be up for discussion in next week's WKD Shed Sports show on Nuts TV
