It has been reported in The Sun that Everton defender Joleon Lescott will turn down the overtures of Manchester United and Arsenal and sign a new long-term deal at Goodison Park.

This morning's Daily Mirror has reported that Newcastle are set to offer Derby £2 million for the highly-rated Giles Barnes whilst various papers have suggested that they have ruled out a move for Pascal Chimbonda of Tottenham.

City and also in Scotland the Daily Mirror report that Walter Smith wants Derby keeper Lewis Price if he's to let Roy Carroll go to Pride Park. The Daily Mirror also suggest that Spanish side Murcia are interested in Portsmouth's Senegal international midfielder Papa Bouba Diop, and although Bolton have already agreed a fee for Aston Villa'a Gary Cahill, Sunderland and Birmingham have now joined the race to sign according to various papers this morning. And finally, various papers also report that Arsenal may be making a move for 21 year-old Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko.
