The talk of the FFC Tavern at the moment is:

Everton man to turn down United?
It has been reported in The Sun that Everton defender Joleon Lescott will turn down the overtures of Manchester United and Arsenal and sign a new long-term deal at Goodison Park.

Would this be the right move for the up and coming England defender?

Magpies to go for Barnes over Chimbonda

This morning's Daily Mirror has reported that Newcastle are set to offer Derby £2 million for the highly-rated Giles Barnes whilst various papers have suggested that they have ruled out a move for Pascal Chimbonda of Tottenham.

Will Barnes be the next man to follow Dennis Wise to St James'? Are Spurs fans relieved that Chimbonda now may be staying at the Lane?

Riise staying at Anfield
Many of this morning's papers have reported that John Arne Riise's agent has insisted the full-back will not be leaving Liverpool to join Newcastle.

Will Liverpool fans be happy to see the Norwegian remain at Anfield?

Sven has his eye on three Brazilians
It has been reported in various newspapers this morning that Sven Goran Eriksson wants to increase his Brazilian contingent with the triple signing of CSKA Moscow strikers Vagner Love and Jo Alves and midfielder Daniel Carvalho.

Will the ex-England manager be successful in this triple swoop and are they what City need?

Blackburn getting Chile
Looks like this morning's papers have all got the same stories as many have also reported that Chile captain Claudio Maldonado, currently at Brazilian side Santos, could be in talks with Blackburn over a £1 million move.

How would the Chilean fit in at Ewood Park?

Elsewhere in this morning's FFC Tavern, the Guardian report that Celtic want to take striker Georgios Samaras on loan from Man. City and also in Scotland the Daily Mirror report that Walter Smith wants Derby keeper Lewis Price if he's to let Roy Carroll go to Pride Park. The Daily Mirror also suggest that Spanish side Murcia are interested in Portsmouth's  Senegal international midfielder Papa Bouba Diop, and although Bolton have already agreed a fee for Aston Villa'a Gary Cahill, Sunderland and Birmingham have now joined the race to sign according to various papers this morning. And finally, various papers also report that Arsenal may be making a move for 21 year-old Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko.

Lescott is sheer class and
Lescott is sheer class and there would be no way in the world that Moyes would let him go. He is priceless.

I have full faith in Sven
I have full faith in Sven and his transfer policy. Who had ever heard of Elano before we got him. Im sure all three would do a great job for us.

People outside Britain who
People outside Britain who follow world ootball, had heard about Elano :) I`m loving Tottenham and english football, but think that many of you british is too focused on your own league sometimes.

I had heard of Elano, as he
I had heard of Elano, as he had played a fair few times for Brazil before being snatched from obscurity, but he was doing pretty welll. While I have faith in Sven, he certainly needs to start earning his money now. The honeymoon period is over, and while we have brought in some quality players at a cost of £44 million the problems are still the same, we have the same defence, and the same problems - we cant score goals. We needed another striker before he loaned our best one out to his old club Lazio.

Vagner Love is not premier
Vagner Love is not premier league quality in my opinion. Certainly dont think he is any better then Lita of Reading. As for my team Spurs, Chimbonda's attitude is a disgrace and it shows that while Jol puts up with it, Ramos certainly does not tolerate it. Hutton will sign today and Chimbonda can go to Sevilla in part exchange for Palop. We need a top quality keeper, so Man City can take Robbo off our hands.
