We are now open for the last day of business here at the FFC Tavern as the January transfer window comes to a close and the landlord Freddie Myers would like to thank you for your contribution during the last 4 weeks. Fleet Streets finest have had their fill and appreciate that they now have to go back to the office tomorrow and cover normal stories once again.
This January has seen record transfer fees paid out totaling over £120m and no doubt the mad spending will continue into the final hours today as managers look to bring in those players who they hope will change their fortunes as we fast approach the business end of the season.
The talk of the FFC Tavern on this final day:
O'Neill plans further raid on Spurs
After securing the services of Wayne Routledge from Tottenham, Martin O'Neill is now being linked with both Pascal Chimbonda and Kevin-Prince Boateng, according to the Daily Mirror and Times respectively. Although Chimbonda seems surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane, Juande Ramos is adamant that Boateng will not leave the club.
Will Aston Villa complete a double swoop?
Eriksson wants striker from Ecuador
The Daily Mail this morning report that Sven Goran Eriksson could be set to splash out £5 million on FC Basel striker Felipe Caciedo. Meanwhile City are also hopeful that, despite involvement from the Home Office, Iraqi midfielder Nashat Akram will make a move to Eastlands.
Could Caciedo be the man to push City into the Champions League? And will Sven be able to secure a deal for Nashat Akram?
Redknapp in for Gutierrez as well as Defoe?
Portsmouth are reportedly planning a deadline day swoop for Real Mallorca's Argentinean international Jonas Gutierrez, according to the Daily Mirror. Harry Redknapp could be offering £5 million plus veteran defender Lauren in exchange for the winger from Mallorca. And the Times have this morning suggested that if Pompey were to lose Benjani to Manchester City, Jermain Defoe may be the man to replace him.
Will Harry seal the deal for Gutierrez? Would either Benjani or Defoe leave their respective clubs?
Tottenham in late bid for Sevilla winger
Diego Capel of Sevilla has reportedly been subject to a deadline day bid from Tottenham, according to the Daily Mirror's transfer deadline round-up.
Will Capel make the move to White Hart Lane? Will he fare better than the now departed Wayne Routledge?

Elsewhere in the FFC Tavern on the final day of the January transfer window, Arsenal striker Theo Walcott will reportedly snub any loan move away from the Emirates and instead fight for his place in the first team according this morning's Mirror. The Times report that Middlesbrough are hoping to secure a loan deal for Inter Milan forward Goran Slavkovski and finally the Times also provide the news that the man with the most references in this season's transfer window - Kevin Keegan - has failed in his bid to bring Levante's Alvaro to St James' Park. Still, at least they got Dennis Wise....
