Football FanCast columnist Hans Schmitz has decided to go on a scouting mission to find the players that he feels would be a welcome addition to White hart Lane - his first stop takes him to Russia.
There is an old expression that if you fire enough bullets then one of them is bound to hit, and what a better way to describe the recent rumblings and the constant newspaper attention we are receiving.
Link Spurs to every striker that could possibly be available and hopefully they'll get, the exclusive "you read it here first", and a huge pat on the back from their respective editor. It has grown out of all control, since the windows have been introduced, and we are just one of many clubs that can't get enough of being door stopped by the press.
The truth of the matter is that Spurs now keep their cards very close to the chest these days. After years of public humiliation with players, Rivaldo being a prime example, the club refuses to show their hand in the transfer market and won't ever announce a signing until it is actually confirmed. If you look back over the last two years and you see the signings of Zokora, Bale, Woodgate, Hutton and more recently Luka Modric, you will see that these signings came very much under the radar and highlights the way that Tottenham now conduct their business - that is why I will take all links with Samuel Eto'o with a pinch of salt.
I'm sure I am not the only Spurs fan who has grown tired off the constant rumour surrounding Berba's future and refuse to add any more column inches about it. I prefer to spend my time looking for alternate players who I feel can come in and improve, or fill the voids that currently exist within our squad. I have decided to focus this first scouting mission on a possible striking solution.
I had the great pleasure of being at the UEFA Cup final last week and it gave me the chance to see Andrei Arshavin in the flesh. The Russian striker is constantly being linked with Premier League clubs and I feel he is one that would definitely be a huge addition to the football club. He possesses plenty of quality and I think once you see this footage, you'll understand why I think he can do a job at the Lane.
Enjoy
The Russian certainly has a fantastic eye for goal and in my eyes would be the perfect partner for a Robbie Keane or a Dimitar Berbatov, should he wish to stay. He would also represent good value for money and I just feel that he is a player that Juande Ramos should possibly take a gamble on. He has bags of ability, can shoot with both feet and is ruthless in front of goal.
Would Spurs fans welcome such a move? Is he more than capable of filling the possible void should Berbatov leave? Would Spurs fans prefer to see a player with a higher profile come in?
