Harry Hockley brings us the latest nominees for the Tottenham Football FanCast's signing of the season.

As the season came to a close on Sunday, after witnessing possibly the worst game I have seen at the Lane for many a year, we at the Tottenham Football FanCast congregated with a pint in hand and put together our final nominees for the annual awards ceremony.

With Kevin Prince Boateng already receiving the coveted Comolli Award' for the worst signing of the season, we now move on to our next category.

Here are our nominations for the ‘best signing of the season' and feel free to add your own in the comments section if you see any glaring omissions and we will look to include them in this week's Tottenham FanCast.

Gareth Bale:
Whilst it may seem a little premature to include Bale, considering how much first team action he has actually seen, there is no doubting that the summer signing from Southampton has already shown in the games he has played what a massive talent he is. He arrived with a big reputation as the best young player outside the Premier League and it is fair to say he made the step up from the Championship with consummate ease.

The Welshman possesses an excellent left foot and has played both at full back and midfield. He whips in a dangerous cross and as he showed against Arsenal he isn't bad at free-kicks either. His injury was a massive blow for us and there is no question that he being back for next season will feel like a new signing all over again. It will be interesting to see where Ramos will play him next year and whether he will adopt Bale in his natural left back role.

Alan Hutton:

If ever there was a signing that became somewhat of an epic then it was certainly the signing of Glasgow Rangers right back. Hutton had earned rave reviews all season in Scotland and to be honest it look like we had missed out on his signature as he turned us down twice in as many weeks. Eventually the Scot was to sign and it didn't take long for his baptism of fire where on his debut he had to mark Cristiano Ronaldo. He had a wonderful game that day and to be honest he hasn't look backed since and looks a tremendous acquisition. He is a rampaging full back and unlike his predecessor Pascal Chimbonda, doesn't run into blind alleyways. He is a high energy performer and will seemingly run through brick walls for the cause and reminds me very much of Christian Ziege in his approach. An excellent signing and will play a huge part in Ramos' revolution.

Jonathon Woodgate:

I don't think there were many Spurs fans that didn't raise a few eyebrows when it was known we had made approach for Jonathon Woodgate. We certainly didn't doubt his ability but showed great concern for his injury record, which had deprived him of so much first team football over the past few years. £8m seem to represent a gamble but my word he was worth the risk.

He has been nothing short of a revelation and was it any coincidence that we achieved our first clean sheet in months on his debut. Woody has been an absolute tower of strength in that backline and he brought a calming influence to the side and of course has already assured himself of legendary status, by scoring the winning goal in the Carling cup final. Woodgate will prove to be a key figure in the new era under Juande Ramos and I reckon it is only a matter of time that he is appointed captain for next season.

So who deserves the award for signing of the season? Gareth Bale for his undoubted potential - Alan Hutton and the solidarity he has brought to the right side - or Jonathon Woodgate for the calming influence he has brought to the team?

Cast your vote below and we will announce the winner on the next Tottenham Football FanCast.

They have all been excellent
They have all been excellent signings but I will have to go for Bale as for me he is one of the best young players in the game and we are very fortunate to have him.

It would be easy to go with
It would be easy to go with Woody because of the Carling Cup but long term I think Barry will prove the best signing.

A good comparison with Ziege
A good comparison with Ziege and Hutton but the player for me has to be Woody. A giant in that team and if he stays fit could be one of the most important signings in our history.

Woodgate Once and for all:
Woodgate Once and for all: get over the Comolli thing. Comolli, Levy and 'Head Coach' have a format for discussing potential signings, which of these potential signings to pursue, which positions need strengthening and who is surplus to requirements. All 'good' signings are 'Jol', or 'Ramos' signings; all bad signings are 'Comolli' signings - how convenient! And just for the record: it is my opinion that it is far too early to decide whether Kevin Prince Boateng is a 'flop' or not. This is a very young man, coming into a new country, with a different style of play. Most serious observers consider that the second season is the best time to make a decision on the success or otherwise under these circumstances. Get of his back!
