Is Wigan chief right to defend the number of foreigners in the Premier League?

Football FanCast
columnist Rob Facey reacts to Dave Whelan's comments regarding the state of the Premier League
and wonders if the Wigan chairman has a point when it comes to defending the
number of foreign players in the country.

Following on from Sir David Richards comments that the
Premier League has contributed to the downfall of the national team has been
met with criticism from Premier League chairmen, most prominently Wigan's Dave
Whelan. But who is in the right?
Suggesting Wigan would roll over is nothing short of an insult to a United great!

placed on Steve Bruce to ensure that his Wigan side put up a fight on Sunday
and wonders if there are more sinister forces at work.

Under Paul Jewell Wigan had lost all 20 of their
meetings with the big four since promotion in 2005, but since Steve Bruce took
over the club have shared points at Anfield and Stamford Bridge, as well as
holding Arsenal at the JJB Stadium.

Will Wigan's strikers cost them dear in their battle for Premier League survival?

Wigan Athletic seem to have their defence sorted out, have some very promising midfielders yet our strikers seem to be really letting us down.

Is the television bias for the Premiership killing off our lower leagues?

On Saturday I had the privilege to visit Old Trafford for the first time. The atmosphere was incredible and the football stunning. Although the stadium easily fulfilled my childhood expectations, I found myself wishing I was at Kenilworth Road instead.

Welcome to the January transfer window - the time where clubs panic buy and waste millions

FFC columnist Johnny Smithers looks at the relevance of the January transfer window and wonders if Chelsea's signing of Nicolas Anelka was the calm before an eventual storm.

Rafa Benitez came out last month, much to the anger of his employers, and pointed out the importance of the transfer window and the need to prepare in advance as teams look for that push or added face that can come in and transform a season. It is a time of rumours, innuendos and in truth a lot of hot air, as once again the window has failed to produce that mad rush that the press men seemingly expect.
