columnist Rob Facey looks at the shortlist of strikers on Roy
Keane's list following the news that Kenwyne Jones' injury will rule him out

Roy Keane has been very outspoken since he became Sunderland

summer.
Football FanCast columnist Rob Facey looks at
Sunderland's prospects next season as the club struggle to make any progress in
the transfer market and wonders if Bent and Duff is the answer.
Sunderland
have bemoaned the lack of transfer activity so far this summer, stating that a
lack of money being exchanged between clubs across Europe means it is hard to
get things rolling. Obviously managers will be watching the European
Championships hoping to bring home a bargain, but Sunderland chairman Niall
Quinn knows that his manager, Roy Keane, is itching to get busy as the club
look to build on last seasons finish.

Football FanCast
columnist Jim McKendry looks ahead to the Tyne & Wear derby
and wonder, who will have the bragging rights come 3pm tomorrow afternoon?
It has to be one of the most understated derbies in English
football. Two huge teams, passionate supporters and a game of football which
atmosphere both in the stands and on the pitch can only be best described as
hostile at best. The game is very much blood and thunder from the off and it
needs a brave man in the middle to stop the game spilling over. Both teams are
desperate to get a win for their adoring public and earn their fans the
bragging rights for the whole of the summer months.
As FFC columnist Sam Hollis travelled to Anfield to support his beloved Luton Town last night, he fears for the future, as the disproportionate distribution of television money is slowly killing off smaller clubs.

FFC columnist Johnny Smithers looks at the relevance of the January transfer window and wonders if Chelsea's signing of Nicolas Anelka was the calm before an eventual storm.
Rafa Benitez came out last month, much to the anger of his employers, and pointed out the importance of the transfer window and the need to prepare in advance as teams look for that push or added face that can come in and transform a season. It is a time of rumours, innuendos and in truth a lot of hot air, as once again the window has failed to produce that mad rush that the press men seemingly expect.
