If there is one thing I love about the summer, then it is the constant rumour and speculation that circulates the printing presses. Quite where they get their inspiration or where they pluck names from remains a mystery to me. It is like they know that Spurs need a left back and then go on Championship Manager and pinpoint some names, look at their attributes and hey presto we will run with that story, "Spurs linked with young Paraguayan sensation".

As the season came to a close on Sunday, after witnessing possibly the worst game I have seen at the Lane for many a year, we at the Tottenham Football FanCast congregated with a pint in hand and put together our final nominees for the annual awards ceremony.

Football FanCast columnist Hans Schmitz feels that Tom Huddleston is being widely underused at Spurs and feels the midfield man could save the club a small fortune.

If there is one footballer that has most Spurs fans split, then it's big Tom Huddleston. There is no doubting the boy's ability with the ball. Left foot, right foot, he can put the ball on a six pence; and his shooting isn't bad either. Older Spurs fans see Hoddle esque qualities in the player- abilities that you rarely see these days and you could say that the Hudd is an old school footballer playing his trade in the modern game.
