Carling Cup

Carling Cup TrophyThe Football League Cup has had many names since it was founded in 1960, but is currently known as the Carling Cup. The Carling Cup sees the 92 clubs in the Football League compete for the trophy in a straight knockout competition. The current prize for the winners, in addition to the silverware, is qualification for the UEFA Europa League competition.

The most successful team in the history of the League Cup is Liverpool, with the Anfield club having won the competition an incredible 7 times. The current holders of the Carling Cup are Manchester United, and this year the Red Devils along with the rest of the teams from the Premier League Championship, League 1 and League 2 will be attempting to seal their place in a Wembley final.
