Aston Villa defender Matthew Lowton is thought to be a potential transfer target for Arsenal as they look to replace Bacary Sagna, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 23-year-old has turned out to be one of Villa’s top performers this season, making 40 appearances in all competitions and scoring potentially the goal of the season in the recent 3-1 win at Stoke.
Lowton’s form at right-back has reportedly caught the eye of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger and he is now keeping tabs on the former Sheffield United youngster.
Lowton only joined from the Blades last summer but Arsenal may be tempted to make a bid for the defender if Sagna decides to leave the Emirates Stadium.
The France international has been linked with moves to Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain and could decide to depart the Gunners this season after another trophyless year in north London.
