Blackburn goalkeeper Paul Robinson has revealed that he will demand a move away from Ewood Park if Tottenham's Brad Friedel makes a return to the club.

New Rovers boss Henning Berg is keen to try and secure a deal for Friedel in January, after already having one bid to land the Premier League goalkeeper blocked by Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas.

Robinson, formerly of Tottenham himself, arrived at Rovers for £3.5million four years ago and has secured the number one spot in goal.

His agent Rob Segal told the Sun: “Paul would be totally happy to stay, he is very happy at Blackburn.

“But, at this stage of his career, he wants to be playing football.

“If Blackburn can sort something out over Brad Friedel, then we shall be on our way.”

Friedel, 41, began new manager AVB’s reign at White Hart Lane as his number one choice between the sticks, however in recent weeks he has fallen behind French international stopper Hugo Lloris who the club signed in the summer.

The move would be attractive to Friedel if he is surplus to requirements at Spurs ,having previously spent eight years at Blackburn before moving to Aston Villa in 2008 and Spurs in 2011.

Lloris is 26-years-old and it is likely that AVB will now stick with him in his side as he looks to the future. This could pave the way for Friedel to move on if the Spurs chief feels he has sufficient cover in the position.
