Sources in Portugal have claimed Cardiff boss Malkay Mackay has set his sights on the former Benfica front man, with the striker currently out of favour at SC Braga.
Goal-scoring has been a problem for Cardiff this season, despite some impressive performances.
And Mackay reckons the man who scored eight goals in 13 starts during a loan spell at hometown club Gil Vicente earlier this year, could be the man to solve those problems.
It is thought the forward – who has been used sparingly by Braga boss Domingos Paciencia since his return – would be available either on loan or to buy.
However, Cardiff are thought to be facing competition from La Liga side Elche for his services, but hope the lure of Premier League football will prove the winner.
The forward has been sent on loan twice in the last year, and is looking for a club where he can settle down and play regularly.
