If you’re from the London area and recently saw to blokes who look a little bit like hybrids between Derek and Rodney Trotter and Johnnie Jackson and Stephen Henderson you’re not actually going mad! The two Charlton stars honoured the Addicks’ passing of the 100 season tickets sold mark with a touching gesture in which they took went under cover as the Only Fools and Horses pair to personally deliver one of the aforementioned tickets to a fan… behind the wheel of the famous yellow three wheeler.
The lucky supporter, Lee Carroll, was given the once in a lifetime treat when the two stars turned up on his doorstep as part of Charlton’s Player Pledge. For every 100 season tickets sold, a different Valley star will be dared undertake a challenge, with the next player up being Jordan Cousins… who will be having his legs waxed!
Carroll, 16, was clearly delighted to see Del and Rodders – whose middle name on the TV show is ‘Charlton’ after his mother’s love of the club – and the teenager’s mum, Joan, said:
"Lee was over the moon when he opened the door and saw Johnnie Jackson and Stephen Henderson there. He described it as the best day of his life. He had brought the new home shirt the day before so and wearing it whilst playing football in the garden, so it felt like fate"
Charlton skipper Jackson said: "A lot of the lads love Only Fools and Horses, so it felt only right that for the first Player Pledge a couple of us lads got behind the wheel of Del Boy's famous van and took it out to deliver the tickets. It was all worth it to see Lee's face when we showed up. We're looking forward to seeing him at The Valley next season…. And to seeing Jordan Cousins get his legs waxed when we sell the next 100 season tickets"
