The 20-year-old midfielder has announced himself as one of the Premier League’s most promising youngsters after breaking into the Hammers’ first-team this season under Sam Allardyce.
This has attracted Meulensteen, who is desperate to add quality to his relegation-threatened squad.
Having worked with Morrison at Manchester United, the Dutchman has a good relationship with him amd is a known fan of his abilities.
He is confident this could be a deciding factor, with speculation suggesting the once-troubled starlet is looking to leave West Ham.
Meulensteen says that Morrison is keen to join him in West London, and that one offer for him as already been made by Fulham:
“It got rejected (Fulham’s bid). So we will review it and move on. I’ve left it with [Fulham CEO] Alistair Mackintosh,” he told The Mirror.
“He does want to come here. I’ve known him obviously for a long, long time but the thing is this – we have to wait and see.”
When asked if he was confident that a deal could be done, he replied:
“Well that’s what we’re hoping for. I’ve made my desires clear and I’ll leave it to those people to deal with.”
