Fulham manager martin Jol is hopeful that the club can bring in a few new players during January.
The Cottagers have enjoyed a solid start to the Premier League season, amassing 20 points to occupy 13th position.
Their good form has been due, in part, to Jol’s dealings in the transfer market, in which he brought in Dimitar Berbatov from Manchester United.
The Bulgarian had been struggling for game time at Old Trafford, but has shown the ability which once saw him heralded as one of the most talented strikers in English football since his move to West London.
Jol believes that a similar methodical approach to transfers in the New Year could allow Fulham to bring in one or two top quality signings:
“We showed that we are able to get players in, even when they are not on the market because if players are on the market it is different,” he is quoted by SkySports.
“If you were president, chairman or chief executive at another club you never try and get rid of your best players – so we have to try and be inventive.
“We have to try to get the players who are not playing well or not fitting in at their other clubs, but they have to be better than the players we have got so we will come up with one or two solutions.
“It is not an easy situation but we know maybe one or two players who are having problems at their clubs – we always look to strengthen and if it possible we will do it.”
