Saint-Etienne star Banel Nicolita has confessed that a January switch to the Premier League would tempt him.
The Romanian winger has been linked with Fulham in recent weeks, with manager Martin Jol said to be keen to strengthen his attacking options.
It’s thought that the Cottagers registered an interest in the 27-year-old during the summer, but were unable to agree a deal with his employers.
Despite him having endured an injury ravaged start to the Ligue 1 season, Fulham are still believed to be monitoring his situation, and Nicolita admitted that a switch to England would be too good to turn down:
“I don’t know anything about this transfer but as far as I know there are no reasons why I couldn’t leave,” he is quoted by Dolce Sport via Sky Sports.
“When I get back to France I will have a discussion with the bosses from the team if I am supposed to have a discussion. If not, I will prepare as well as I have done so far.
“I would like to play in England because it is a strong championship but at the moment I like being at Saint Etienne.”
However, he maintains that a transfer is not top of his list of priorities:
“My aim is to recover and get into the first team. That’s the most important for me at the moment.”
Nicolita moved to France in 2011, following a successful spell with home nation club Steaua Bucharest.
