The images of Jack Wilshere smoking a cigarette in Las Vegas last month caused a bit of a stir amongst football fans.

Some believe it’s wrong for a professional football, and particularly the ‘future of English football’ to be risking his health in such a way, while others aren’t too bothered just as long as he continues to perform for the Gunners and his country.

But a recent picture has emerged of the famous Jack Charlton having a crafty puff during a Leeds United training session in August 1970.

The game has moved on a little since then, as well as the way smoking is perceived socially and medically. But perhaps our Jack was just taking some inspiration from the Leeds legend?

Who knows?
