The last week has been a chaotic mess at Leeds United. Brian McDermott was sacked on the final hours of deadline day only to find out mid-way through the Whites’ Championship victory against Huddersfield that he was in fact still in charge at Elland Road, while various consortia looking to buy the club have entered and exited negotiations over the last few days.

But if we could get back to the business of football and try to forget about all the boardroom anarchy, there’s the small issue of the emergency loan window to consider, now that the January window has come to a close.

The emergency loan window will come into effect mid-February, giving clubs in the Football League the privilege to sign players from other divisions on a temporary basis, and it has proved to be a vital tool for sides outside of the Premier League in the last few years.
