It has been a turbulent few months for Leeds United in their quest for Premier League football. The ownership debacle has yet to be fully sorted and, with Brian McDermott’s position constantly under scrutiny, it is difficult to see Leeds making a late promotion push.
Cellino’s millions were meant to be the catalyst for a drive for the play-offs but, with his takeover yet to be ratified, the investment has been delayed. It may be a case of waiting out this season for Leeds fans and hoping changes are made in the summer to galvanise them once more.
With the Cagliari owner now at the helm, Leeds fans could be in for a distinctly Italian feel from next season.
