In a fans’ forum earlier this week, Newcastle United confirmed the news that many supporters were dreading. Despite suffering a horrific 2014, Alan Pardew will remain in charge for the foreseeable future.
With a 10th place finish in the Premier League, the Magpies were never really threatened by relegation this time around. But having played themselves into such a promising position by Christmas, Pardew and all associated with the club should be bitterly disappointed with the manner in which the campaign was allowed to fizzle out.
Discontent with the current regime has been made perfectly clear through a number of protests and the walkout during the last home fixture against Cardiff City. Although Mike Ashley will inevitably be reluctant to invest, much strengthening is evidently required in the summer.
