The January transfer window in particular proved difficult for the Magpies, as they only managed to sign Luuk de Jong on loan, while losing star midfielder Yohan Cabaye to Paris St Germain.
In fact, Newcastle have not completed a permanent signing in almost 18 months, with Loic Remy the only player to arrive last summer – again on a loan deal.
But Pardew admits plans for summer transfer business has already begun.
“Our process has started. I have to start planning for next year,” Pardew said.
“Is Sammy Ameobi going to be good enough? Is Armstrong going to feature next year, or do I loan him out for a bit more experience?
“I have got Remie Streete, who is doing particularly well in the development group – is he going to get a game? Does he need to go out on loan? Massadio [Haidara] has not had much action.
“They all need to be answered, those questions, in the next few weeks.”
