The playmaker has been attracting interest from clubs across Europe of late after emerging as one of Ligue 1’s top stars, with the Premier League champions having been mooted as a potential destination for some time.
However, Newcastle now look most likely to secure the 23-year-old’s signature, with the North East outfit ready to embark on an active January transfer plan.
Cabella has become one of their major targets, with Pardew keen to add greater creativity to his squad to get the best out of on-loan striker Loic Remy.
Montpellier’s outspoken president, Louis Nicollin, says that there have been no official moves from United, and that he is expecting Newcastle to make a serious offer in the coming days:

“As for Newcastle, it seems to me they are about to make one, but I expect confirmation on that. But the idea is still that Remy is with Montpellier until June.”
