Newcastle winger Hatem Ben Arfa has ruled out a January exit by claiming that he is happy on Tyneside.
The controversial Frenchman has struggled for playing time this term under Alan Pardew, who has frequently opted to drop him to the bench.
The 26-year-old has made an impact on most games in which he has enjoyed playing time, leading to speculation that he may consider a move away from St James’ Park for the good of his career.
However, Ben Arfa says that he is happy at the club and that an transfer is not on his mind:
“The team is doing well and it is normal that the manager maintains that confidence in the team in place,” he is quoted by The Mirror.
“Although when you’re a competitor, you want to be on the pitch.
“I give everything always, even if I am asked to play 10, 15 minutes,
“A departure from Newcastle? The question does not arise today.
“I do not think about it. I’m at Newcastle and I feel good.”
Ben Arfa has endured a turbulent career, but has shown glimpses of his true talent during his time at Newcastle.
Injuries have curtailed his appearances in recent times, and contributed to speculation of a return to his homeland.
