The Magpies boss is under huge pressure at St James’ Park, with the fans making their feelings obvious during Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Stoke City.
Banners were held up in the away end, one of which read: ‘Pardew is a muppet’, while another read: ‘No more lies or excuses – Pardew out.’
Pardew has seen his side lose 12 of their last 17 matches, while he remains banned from the touchline following his headbutt on Hull midfielder David Meyler which brought disgrace on himself and the club.
Pardew has one of the longest contracts of any manager in Premier League football, but is now thought to be under severe pressure at St James’ Park.
The former West Ham and Southampton boss took a swipe at the media following their latest defeat saying: “the media in the North East had not helped in recent weeks.”
Despite his lengthy contract, Pardew admitted he remains uncertain of his future.
“I never feel safe as a Premier League manager. We have five to six Premier League games as we go, in terms of the pressure building from the media,” Pardew said.
“I think they whipped it up, for whatever reason. I know one or two of them are banned from the stadium and they probably used that as a bit of an agenda, which is a shame for us because we want them to support us.”
