Norwich manager Chris Hughton has admitted that he is interested in signing Sporting Kansas City striker Kei Kamara.

The Sierra Leone international has previously attracted the interest of Stoke, but failed to secure a permanent deal with the club following a trial.

However, the Canaries may now offer him a route into the Premier League by making a bid before the January transfer window closes.

The 28-year-old netted 11 goals in 35 MLS appearances last term for the Missouri-based team, which has attracted the interest of Hughton:

“Kei Kamara is a player we have made enquiries about but any progress remains behind closed doors.” He is quoted by The Metro.

Norwich are said to be keen to bring in a new striker in a bid to build on their solid start to the season.

As well as Kamara they are thought to be interested in Celtic front-man Gary Hooper.

The Carrow Road-based outfit have made two bids for his signature, but the SPL giants have rebuffed both.

They may instead turn their attention to Swansea’s Danny Graham, who is believed to be surplus to requirements at the Liberty Stadium under manager Michael Laudrup.

Two other options the East Anglians have been linked with are Leeds’ Luciano Becchio and QPR’s Jamie Mackie.
