Queens Park Rangers have been a bit of an enigma so far this season.

Despite keeping hold of a significant chunk of their Premier League side from last term, the Super Hoops have struggled, with their midtable position having cost Chris Ramsey his role as manager last week.

The transfer window looming large on the horizon offers some reason for optimism it seems, with additions and sales likely to inject a sense of excitement, as nobody truly knows what will happen over the 31 days.

QPR’s record when it comes to signings has been questionable for a little while, but things could improve this time around, and here are FIVE rumours surrounding the R’s that may come true…

Charlie Austin

Despite claims from the player that he is ready to see out his contract at QPR and steer clear of the ‘quick fix’ of a January move back up to the Premier League, quotes from recently axed manager Chris Ramsey speculate that he may well be off this winter.

With 18 goals to his name in the top tier last term and a host of sides having chased him over the summer, interest in a goalscorer of Austin’s ilk is likely to be serious come 2016, and even with promotion worth a huge deal of cash, can QPR really reject a injection of money for a player they’ll otherwise lose for free in the summer?

Matt Phillips

Another player QPR managed to hold on to despite his performances as the club slipped to relegation, Phillips is likely to attract a great deal of interest once again. A number of lower table Premier League outfit’s are understood to be looking at the winger ahead of January, and with the R’s currently lagging in Championship action the player himself may be turned.

Sandro

Injuries and that work permit issue have rather limited Sandro’s influence this season, adding to the long-running questions surrounding his overall commitment to the cause. Interest from the Premier League and abroad remains strong when it comes to the Brazilian’s future, and with the likes of Alejandro Faurlin and Karl Henry around the London side may be able to cope without him.

Ravel Morrison

Links between Morrison and QPR seem to recur all year around, and yet again there are quiet rumours bubbling away.

The controversial midfielder is currently over in Italy with Lazio, but his game time has been rationed (just 53 minutes in Serie A so far this term), leaving the door ajar for a move. Perhaps a loan deal could appeal to both club and player, with the shop window effect always attractive.

Andros Townsend

It would be a major coup getting Townsend to drop to the Championship, but guaranteed game time may be enough to lure him back once again.

The Spurs winger is understood to be looking for an escape route after dropping down the pecking order at White Hart Lane, and although Premier League sides are hovering, staying in London and the fact that the Championship is no longer code for being out of the loop in the Three Lions set-up may make Loftus Road appealing.
