It’s been a frustrating season for QPR, as Chris Ramsey begins his rebuild from the Premier League yo-yo-ing of the last few seasons. Despite bringing in 13 new players in the close season, the West London side are lingering five points below the play-off places, only winning one game from their last seven.

Charlie Austin and Jamie Mackie find themselves on the injury table, with the former all but certain to leave the club either in the New Year or next summer.

The R’s have a decent squad of players with the likes of Sandro, Matt Phillips and of course Austin, but clearly something isn’t working. Perhaps the relegation hangover is just too much for the club, and some of the bigger name should be shipped out.

Here a five R’s that Ramsey can rid of in January...

SAMBA DIAKITE

SAMBA DIAKITE

Yes, he still is a QPR player. Despite only featuring 14 times in the three years he’s been at Loftus Road, Diakite still trains with Ramsey and the rest of the squad.

Loans to Watford and Saudi Arabian champions Ittihad FC did not yield much in the way success, and the 26-year old remains in West London.

It may be quite hard to attract suitors for a player who was sent off on his debut for both the English clubs he played for, but even a nominal fee should be considered. A substantial loss on the £3m they shelled out for him in 2012.

KARL HENRY

Fulham v Queens Park Rangers - Sky Bet Football League Championship

The likes of Leroy Fer, Sandro, Massimo Luongo and Alejandro Faurlin are all ahead over the former Wolves man in the pecking order, and the 32-year old should be moved on.

A decent servant to the club since joining in 2013, the ex-Stoke youngster is unlikely to get a look in barring a major injury crisis to the aforementioned.

Perhaps a lower league club could be tempted into buying a combative central midfielder with a wealth of experience.

JUNIOR HOILETT

Burton Albion v Queens Park Rangers - Capital One Cup Second Round

Perhaps the biggest throwback to the doomed, almost laughable Premier League signings under Mark Hughes and Harry Redknapp. The Canadian has a wealth of talent but rarely actually ever applies it.

Reportedly on a whopping £45k a week, he may not want to move at all. However, if literally anything comes in for him, Ramsey and Warnock would be wise to sell, sell, sell.

ARMAND TRAORE

Queens Park Rangers v Stoke City - Barclays Premier League

The former Arsenal man has lost his place in the side to the likes of Paul Konchesky, Jack Robinson and Yun Suk-Young in the side.

Revealed to be one of the ‘bad eggs’ in the camp last season, the 26-year-old should be cut loose as soon as possible.

Reportedly in talks with Ligue 1 side Lille, the R’s should take anything they can get for the Senegal international.

MATT PHILLIPS

Matthew Phillips

Odd one here. The Scotland international is undoubtedly one of the best players in squad at Loftus Road, thought the stellar form he showed towards the back end of last year in the Premier League hasn’t really come around again this term.

On paper, he’s one of the best wingers in the division. However, Ramsey clearly has a much bigger rebuild on his hands than first thought.

Linked with moves away in the summer at around £10m+, the 24-year-old should be sold in order to fund replacements that flesh the squad out with quality.
