Reading manager Brian McDermott is expecting more signings before the end of the month.

The Royals have endured a tough start to the Premier League campaign, notching just 16, points leaving them in 19th position.

In a bid to steer his side clear of the drop, McDermott has completed deals for Hope Akpan from Crawley, Sporting Lisbon’s Daniel Carrico and Stephen Kelly from Fulham.

He is now looking to add further names to his squad, and believes that he will be able to do so:

"There are a lot of complications trying to sign a player as everyone knows, but if something comes our way, we have the finances and he wants to play here then we will do something. There is no doubt about that." He is quoted by Sky Sports.

Despite securing a momentous victory over West Brom, Carrico’s performance was a worry for McDermott.

The Portuguese defender was substituted at half-time after a poor showing, but his manager is confident that he will recover from this and prove to be an excellent signing:

"He is a good player. He just needs time,

"It was a tall order to go straight in to the side and play 45 minutes so soon. He is an experienced player, he needs to build up his fitness, get to know the league and the team. I am sure he will be an excellent addition to the squad."

The Royals have been linked with a number of players in recent weeks, including Arsenal’s Andrey Arshavin and Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas.
