Young ambitious managers do not seemingly want the job, even though, I assume, we are offering them slightly more than their current salary. Young ambitious managers want to be with an ambitious chairman, whether he is a fan or not. If the manager is not ambitious then he is only in it for the money – just like our Chairman!

I don’t think there is any kind of ‘manager fiasco’. One guy has turned the job down and we are talking to a lot of other people. Unfortunately, every time we even consider talking to somebody it is all over the news, so some people assume the previous guy was offered the job and he turned it down.

I’m still not sold on the idea of a chairman being a fan. Look at Blackburn. The Singh’s are football fans and keep interfering, talking nonsense to the media and have totally ruined a club steeped in history.
